Here it is...this is the first love. This little 5 song e.p. completly blew me away when I first laid ears on it in 1996. I remember buying it at the Har Mar mall in Roseville, MN with a good friend of mine. I will never forget going out to the car and putting it on the cd player and just sitting there in silence completly blown away by California. For some reason, I find myself often forgetting about this release. No reason, I think it is still a great record. I just often go to Pacifico, California or Face Your Fun when I am in the mood for some LF. However, everytime I put this in. I always say I need to listen to it more. Pacifico was a record that could not come out soon enough. It was released in 1999 and is Lassie Foundation's first full length release. Up to this point, all that had been released were three EPs. Two of which were EPs that featured tracks from Pacifico prior to it's release. It was a great tease to what the full record would behold. To this day, this is one of my all time favorite albums. The Lassie Foundation have been a favorite band of mine for several years now. I have been following them from the very beginning in 1996. They ended a great run in 2004 and produced a bunch of great music in virtual obscurity. It really is a shame. You may or may not have read that Jeff Schroeder has moved on from LF and is currently filling in on guitar duties for the Smashing Pumpkins. I intend to do a two things with this series of posts. ...oh, yes, all good things must come to end. No, not this series of blogs on the Lassie Foundation. However, what this does signal is the end of any new material from the LF. Face Your Fun was released in 2004 and ended up being the final release before LF called it quits. I guess I still have the music and that is fine. This was a tough one to lose for me.
