The Hollies were one of my favorite British Invasion bands from the 1960s. For the uninitiated, it was the first group of Graham Nash, later of Crosby, Stills and Nash, though I must say I prefer his work with the Hollies. The harmonies of Graham and lead singer Allen Clarke were one of the most thrilling in pop/rock, and remain so to this day.I've recently been expanding my Hollies collection, ...
One of my favorite obscure tracks of the Hollies comes from perhaps my favorite (U.S. version) of their albums called ??*Hear! Here!*??The song ??Very Last Day??, is about the end of the world and God taking that final roll call. So I wanted to find out more about it, and discovered it was written by Peter Yarrow and Paul Stookey, who started Peter Paul Mounds! Nah, just kidding – from Peter Pa.
Yes, Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress) co-authored by Allan Clarke, Roger Cook and Roger Greenaway has been played a gazillion times, but with Clarke’s sweet guitar opening and that pounding drum/ bass guitar back beat, this song epitomizes everything that rocks in rock.

And the combination of vicodin and skelaxin (don't ask me -- i don't know what it's supposed to do, either) creates the worst ADD you can imagine. Just keeping my attention focused here long enough to type this is sillier than it should be (I'm otherwise occupied attempting to watch "Cache" by Michael Haneke...
There are undescribable attributes to a perfect pop ditty. I never actually gave much though to what those attributes were...I figured if I'd listen to enough music, I would come across many that fit the bill. I was just listening to The Hollies' Tell Me to My Face off their For Certain Because album. Actually, I listened to it about 12 times in a row. It fits the bill.
Every morning I would see her waiting at the stopSometimes she'd shop and she would show me what she boughtAll the people stared as if we were both quite insaneSomeday my name and hers are going to be the sameIll try to be definitive in this post, I love The Hollies (As if there's an alternative adjective). A total rip-off of the 'The Beatles'? I think one must live a 100 years to be able to g...
