I was just hanging around the inter-sphere and just now I got an email notification of The Hold Steady's tour. If you've been under a rock (or haven't been getting your MOG-notifications), you may not be aware of how incredible this band is, especially live. I've gushed over them in my post and Satisfiedmind has waxed poetic plus lots and lots of other MOGGERs have discovered these amazing men. Man, I love the album Boys And Girls In America by The Hold Steady, but now that I've seen them live, I love it 10 times more. I'll never listen to their albums the same way. This band is an absolute MUST SEE.

I fell for The Hold Steady at Lollapalooza 2006. Very nice show. I bought their recent album, Boys & Girls in America. Terrific. And I vowed not to miss them this year at Lollapalooza. I didn't. He's got it right; they are number one! On Friday I went to go see one of the greatest bands that most people forget about, The Hold Steady’s! They got a lot of Buzz for Boys and Girls In America but not many followed up fans. Those who did take the lead got a great reward; I was one of the few. That’s why I was ecstatic to hear they where coming to Austin. Was lucky enough to catch The Hold Steady in LA last night. What a GREAT show! Lead by Craig Finn - the world's most unlikely rock star - HS churned out enough anthem-filled rock to pull fist-pumps and high-fives out of even these nerdarati!

If 2006 was a good year for The Hold Steady (and it was), 2007 is shaping up to be even better. The Hold Steady are pretty awesome too. They talk too much about drugs, though. It seems to be the gimmick on their newest album. But other than that, they are very fun and very cool.
I'd recommend it.

Alright, alright, you are all right. The Hold Steady are pretty damn good fun. From my investigations so far Chips Ahoy! and Most People are DJs are my favourites. Hold Steady built a pretty devoted following with their first two albums, Almost Killed Me (2004) and Separation Sunday (2005). Though based in NYC, Craig Finn based the songs on his experiences living in the Twin Cities in the 90s, as a member of Lifter Puller.
