This one is *_"For the Girl"_* ;)So this is how it's done !!! A man in a suit rings my bell & suddenly I am holding in my hands an oversized package from you know who !!!Oh... you don't ?!? Well I do. & for some truly strange reason... I thought it might be just who it is & let me just say... I am one lucky & one happily blissed out girl with the eyes of green. It’s Memorial Day, and I’ve been spending the long weekend in Monterey with my brother and his family. Nothing remarkable there. Just a chance to take a break from the concerts and screenings and the San Fran-to-Los Angeles commute that’s been my lot of late. Not every human can or will say this, but it’s a joy for me to hang out with the relatives. Both of the nieces, now 16 and 5 ½, are

So I will be the first to admit it, I am addicted to those damn ipod commercials. In fact I have not seen one that used a song I didn't fall in love with from the moment I heard it. (Minus that stinker that played the U2 song). The latest commercial features a band called the Fratellis, and apparently they are going to be the next big thing. At least the next big thing here in America, they see...

The Fratellis rose quickly to fame in their native UK (they hail from Scotland) with their debut 2006 album "Costello Music". This is from their latest release "Here We Stand", and I have to admit they are sucking me in. These are 3 brothers who are having some fun, and are passing that fun on to us. Damn if I don't appreciate it!!

Nothing too deep here, just revisiting a band I posted on in July. This poppy little number "popped up" up on my ipod and it had a "feel good" vibe to it that I thought I'd pass along,

One more taste of the boys from Glasgow. In case you were wondering, The Fratellis are from Glasgow, Scotland. The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Jon Fratelli (real name John Lawler), bass guitarist Barry Fratelli (real name Barry Wallace), and drummer, backing vocalist, occasional guitarist and banjo player Mince Fratelli (real name Gordon McRory).

This week's theme: "Show canceled"

The Fratellis(Harlow's, Sacramento, 4/29/07)I can keep this concert review very short. As I walk the four blocks over to Harlow's to arrive at the venue at 9:15pm, what do I find but a "show canceled" note at the door and a salsa dancing lesson proceeding in full strut. First Placebo cancels on Wednesday. Now this (decidedly less exciting and significant, but still potentially fun) event comes ...

I always wondered how people got the energy to work a full day at work then come home and do home renovation projects. Then we found out we will be traveling in 2-3 weeks to bring home our son. Deadlines have a way of focusing the mind. And since I'm trying to drink less than 4 cups of joe a day, I needed something to keep me going. Enter my friend and co-worker who earned EMCD status by p...

One of the cooler things about the Coachella set up is the fact that the three smaller stages are all covered by tents, so that even if a band is playing at 2 in the afternoon if feels like you are in a small club somewhere watching the show.I watched almost the entire Fratelli's set on Saturday and I was impressed. Lots of energy, lots of fun.

If you're like me, and I have a eerie feeling you probably are to some extent, you're half annoyed, half intrigued by the near constant flow of new post-punk pub bands who quantify themselves with the definite article "The" prefixing the noun of their name. The Strokes, The View, The Vines, The Bravery, The Futureheads, The Hives, The Killers, The Sounds, The Rapture, The Raveonettes....etc, e...

Horray! Integrity scored another point in Rock N Roll, while David Beckham struck out. Well, David Beckham is probably used to striking out by now, but in the interest of credibility? That might be a new one for the soccer/football star aka Victoria Beckham's hubby.David B asked the Fratellis to cover the classic Beatles hit "Hello Goodbye" so that he could make it his official song for his ...
