I hate the idea of never knowing if or when I will once again see Marco flail his arms around on stage in an interpretive dance to the "B.... E...... C..... A......." part of Dog Problems... Or the fact that Swans was a great song that only pumped me up for what was to come. But the more I think about it, the more I accept it as inevitable and good thing... kinda. Please understand this was a tough decision and we're both upset about it. It has been a good six months since I first heard of the Format. I stumbled upon a review of their new album, "Dog Problems", and I was intrigued. I read review after review, and they all said that Dog Problems was one of the best albums they had heard in a while. I went and bought it, and I was definitely not disappointed. One of the best bands I've seen live recently! Gosh I love The Format sooo much! Kelly and I pre show. Check out that awesome shirt in the back ground! Indie pop/rock band The Format is celebrating the one year anniversary of their impeccable album Dog Problems by doing the unthinkable: giving it away for free.

You have to enter your e-mail address for a mailing list, but this album is totally worth it. Dog Problems was one of my favorite albums of 2006. If you haven't heard this album, do yourself a favor and download it immediately. You can't go wrong with free.

I spoken of The Format on several occasions and I still can’t explain exactly what I like about them musically. The Format were grabbed by not one, but two different major labels and hailed as the next big thing, only to have their music dictated by bean counters, their album sales suffer, and then be dropped by said major labels. They've got a pretty good following here on MOG, so I'm sure this will be appreciated. To celebrate the one year anniversary of their album Dog Problems, The Format will offer a download of the album for free on their official website. The DRM-free download will be there for the taking between June 25 through July 15. The Format have appeared on NBCs Last Call with Carson Daly, and the hit MTV show Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County.

God... I've had a week of being cruel to be kind when it comes to animals... From the sadness of Wednesday, to the ridiculousness of today... The Format's live record, Exporting Insecurity, is up now on amie.st. The thing about amie.st is that it's a great idea that's not getting the kind of traction it should because major labels (and indies, apparently) want to charge more for music, not less. So any site that lets demand set the price of music (songs range from free to a maximum of $.99, and always start free) has a steep hill to climb. The title pretty much speaks for itself.
I've seen these guys live twice, (Portland, Seattle), both were phenominal shows. I just hope they don't sell out --was disappointed when they were on that tour with All American Rejects (LAME)...
I've said it before, and I'll say it again:
The Format should not ever be opening for anybody.

the best song i've heard in a long time: "Dog Problems" by the Format. it makes me smile. and that can't be bad. plus, it mixes up genres into this vast musical storyline, which is always a good time. the entire album is just good, fun pop music. plus, its lyrically sound. (and some of you have forgotten what pop music is. pop doesn't mean radio, there's a huge difference. there's lots of goodness out there, if you can swallow that pride filled lump in your throat and say ...
