Forbidden Dimension Tortured tales of mechanized doomBy Brad Simm Before the digital age unleashed its full power and Pro Tools allowed all walks-of-life to produce their very own wall of sound with CD enhanced quality, turning out product for rock 'n' roll basement dwellers was a raw, guttural, messy affair. While the 4-track portastudio circulating in the '80s made it possible to get demo tapes done dirt cheap, forcing high-powered amps onto those little plastic cass... MORE
If have been following my mog, lo this year and almost a half I have jabbering away at you, there are two bands that most likely stick out a groups that I keep taking about... Radio Birdman and The Forbidden Dimension.. Well as you know the first Forbidden Dimension record in a decade was released this year so it shouldn't be a shock that I have a stickiest tune of the year entry from that record, the only problem is that there are so many solid tunes on the record that ... "It's too damn late.... I known your name" howled over the raunchy strut of a guitar riff and you know it can only be The Forbidden Dimension . It's been 10 years since their last full length release, 1997's Widow's Walk after which the then current line up had called it quits. Anyone that has been following my Mog should know by now that I love this band, and that I have been on the edge of my seat waiting for this record. I have written about the FD on mog more than a ... I am currently awaiting my copy of the new Forbidden Dimension LP to arrive. This is my most anticipated record of the year, and what I have heard so far I really really really really dig... I hope it arrives before Halloween... if not, I might just send the angry mob in the picture for the LP release show to the doorstep of Saved by Vinyl (who released the record).... of course I could download the album for $8.88 here ... if you want to check the album out all three of ... I'm not talking about Johnny Rotten here. I'm talking about the weather today...it's October, dadgummit and it's going to be darn near 90 degrees out this weekend! Outrageous. I always look forward to October as it's the start of my favorite part of the year, the cold season. I dig cool weather, overcast skys, rain, snow and all that follows with it. I'm not a summer person. Is this global warming? Just a natural warm cycle in the earth?I'm being cheated of an autumnal sea... MORE
October is still a couple of weeks off, and I hope the new album by Horror Rockers The Forbidden Dimension as well (I hope), but as a tease the band has added the title track for their up coming album Cool Sounds outta Hell on their Myspace Page here . As this is the record I am looking most forward to this year I have listened to the tune no less that 3 times in the last 20 minutes. It's classic FD amped up garage rock stuff, but there is a bit of the eastern sound in th... MORE
I mentioned in my first post on Mog (which as reposted in the one before this one) that [and I am paraphrasing my self.... ok I am paraphrasing someone else) when I say I've heard Sgt Pepper, Darkside of the Moon, and Pet Sounds, they're about chicks right?, but my fave all time album is Somebody Down There Likes Me by The Forbidden Dimension..... so what of their follow up album. Following a classic is always hard, the expectation, and the pressure. I think it's safe to... MORE
Happy Halloween MOG readers, here we are the destination, the 31st day of October 2006, Halloween. Over the last month I have been making daily entries (with the exception of a few days that I was out of town and had no internet access) talking about artists that I see as the building blocks and best examples of the Horror Punk/ Psychotronic Rock Genre, and today it is time to present the one band that I see as the culmination off all these influences, The Forbidden Dimens... So alll 8k songs on my iTunes have been indexed, but two of my fave groups haven't shown up on my music collection list: Forbidden Dimension and Jet Black Berries (along with their early incarnation New Math) aren't listed.... mean while The Jaks a group that I went to High School with showed up? to quote Radio Birdman What Gives?... is there a way to enter bands that have yet to be indexable? I'm sure that I can't even recall several of the ones that are in my collection ... MORE
