The Dears have always been a band that i have enjoyed, but none of their albums ever quite put me over the edge in terms of “wow, this band is awesome”; they always reminded me of a more subdued TV on the Radio, or a less catchy Morrissey. They are about to release their fourth [...]

I've been spending far too much time this week engaging in a few absurdly reductive debates on race on my high school's interweb bulletin board, with this lurvely tune by The Dears acting as the soundtrack.
2005 was a year of profound change, depression, fun and excitement all at once. I had some amazing times that year and made a new friend, whom I still consider my musical match and a dear and thoughtful friend. It was so great to find another soul who geeked out over music like I do (and the same bands at that) and could talk about mixing consoles or dj dork stuff. He threw this song out at me one night in passing and asked me if had heard it. I hadn't but the instant ... MORE
It's been way too long since I've last mogged, but preparing applications for post-graduate study is a lot of work and unfortunately mog is not the priority I'd like it to be. But I've been having a lazy day, so I should do a recap of the last few concerts I've seen! The Dears - Nov. 25Starlite Room, Edmonton I haven't seen the Dears since they came through Edmonton in 2003, so this was quite a treat. The last time I saw them was one of the best concerts I've ever seen... MORE

Please take some time to listen to "Gang of Losers" by The Dears. This is one album you can't get tired of because each song is a gem with doses of lyricism and changes in the musical patterns, making each song a voyage with unpredictable routes.
recently discovered these.
Thry sound pretty good to be honest a cross between the smiths (lead singer really does sound like morrisey), Bowie and Strangelove.
I understand they're very well known in the States. They haven't reached the UK yet.
