AMG Review of Mindless, Directionless, Energy: Live at the Lyceum
Matt Fink
All Music GuideLiving up to the album title's boast, the Damned turn in a rather uninspired set of stadium punk anthems, cavernously recorded at the Lyceum in 1981. Aimless jams and shouted/muttered vocals make this an album that even hardcore fans might want to steer clear of, as even the standards like "Smash it Up" and "New Rose" come across rather weakly. The low point is a ridiculously bad cover of "Ballroom Blitz."
