Carnival Day in London
27 April 2008 - Thirty years after a group of music stars decided to Rock Against Racism, the Love Music Hate Racism carnival is celebrating the efforts of 1978. The Good, The Bad and The Queen, Hard-Fi and Jay Sean are headlining the anti-racism concert in east London. Today my pal Noah, a former Columbia Records executive who taught me a great deal about how a record company can be a positive force for artists and music (rare at CBS/SONY or any of the corporate labels for that matter), did a long follow-up piece on protest music at Down With Tyranny. No story about protest music would be complete without Complete Control, which was the theme song for an old San Francisco radio show I hosted.

Yesterday I did a post of my "run in" with the law. I actually have never had any type of run in with the police, and do not even have a speeding ticket to my name. Scratch that, I did get caught driving with out insurance once but that is a whole other story. Anyways, on my post quite a few moggers gave ideas of great songs to be chased by the police to, and I had to agree they were pretty good. The Clash were a hugely influential band for me in my musically formative years. London Calling was, and still is, a phenomenal album, a classic ... I know my life would not be the same had I never been exposed to it. Just wanted to put it out in the mogos: Thanks, and RIP Joe!
