"Sharif don't like it." This song was written about the Ayatollah shutting down rock n roll music in the casbah and ordering jets to bomb it but instead the jet pilots rock out to the music in their headphones.
Strangly relavent today after Iran just shut down the "satanic music" concert.

...since the Hip Hop Thursday thang still has teeth, I thought I'd point to one of the first places that I ever heard a rap done...by a white guy, no less...The tune is called "Overpowered By Funk" by the Clash from off of their Combat Rock LP...although I already have it on mp4, I just got a copy from a homebiscuit on M (thanks Mike)...the latter reminded me that I'd written a piece on this tune a while back that started like this... Ok so I think this is the worst Clash song ever...but, I like it. I think I like it because this is the first Clash song I ever heard and my fist thought was "this noise is like nothing I've ever heard before" It is also their best known song, here in the US anyway.
