The Bird and the Bee

The Bird and The Bee on TV! (And in Concert, Too!)

The vigilant MOGger, producer and music-biz insider Robin Danar alerted me that my beloved Inara George and her musical partner Greg Kurstin - über-hip, jazzy, techno-poppy Los Angeles-based duo The Bird and The Bee - will be appearing this evening on NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." The aim is, no doubt, to promote their delightful new album Ray Guns Are Not Just the Future, which is sc..

The Bird and The Bee: What the Buzz Is All About
7 months ago

Finally, after two years of trying, I managed to see my current Numero Uno musical act The Bird and The Bee in concert. And it was as satisfying as I could have hoped.Trusted MOGgers, lurkers, and accidental visitors to my MOG page might've noticed my fondness for this Los Angeles techno-cabaret duo comprised of singer Inara George and instrumentalist Gerg Kurstin - an affection that was trigge...

In addition to my relief at the coming of a new year, I also have the thrill of anticipating new music by a recent favorite. Which is my way of saying:Woo-hoo! The second full-length album by Los Angeles art-pop duo The Bird and The Bee - singer Inara George and multi-instrumentalist Greg Kurstin - is almost here!I'll have to wait until the end of January for the official release of The Bird an...

The Diamond Bird And The Dave Bee. . . .

I just can't seem to get enough of the new The Bird And The Bee's album 'Rayguns Are Not Just The Future'. There are numerous songs on this album that I adore but one that keeps me smiling over & over again everytime I hear it is their song called 'Diamond Dave'. Inara sings about her youthful idolization of David Lee Roth of the band Van Halen. Push that bright red button atop the post & wonde...

As many have said before me, Los Angeles is so much more about angles than angels. But what strange and terrible force has pulled me out the benign comfort of San Francisco and dragged me down to Southern California and, specifically, L.A. yet again? My callous mistress, Show Business.I motor hither and yon, working and playing – sometimes simultaneously. I take meetings that masquerade as dinn.

Despite my given name (that would be Michael), I'm no angel (arch, herald, or otherwise), and when it comes to singing, I'm certainly not Josh Groban (thank the fates). But, as some of my Trusted MOGgers know, this time of the year puts a song in my heart - and I don't mean "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer."It’s not a generic melody, and it changes, although lately I've been humming the "Fee.

Although I would have probably come upon them sooner or later, a posting by trusted MOGger Blair a.k.a. SatisfiedMind614 introduced me to the multi-faceted cool of The Bird and The Bee – a Los Angeles-based duo comprised of singer Inara George and producer-instrumentalist Greg Kurstin. (And hearty thanks unto you, Blair.)I glommed onto their eponymous debut album, which was released in late Jan.

I really feel like I am living out an American Beauty type of awakening....except I don't have the wife and daughter and conflicted gay neighbor to deal with, and for this I am thankful. For the first time in a long time I am loving life again...i had lost that. And music is the driving force behind all of this...so i will stop rambling and share a song...I posted on The Bird And The Bee awhile ...

On December 6th my friend Jason sent me a link to a video. I finally got around to checking it on December 14th. Last night my shipment from Amazon containing The Bird And The Bee's catalogue arrived. This is not an uncommon occurrence. I'm rather excitable and enthused when something catches my fancy. I research it extensively, immerse myself in it, digest the details.I love to understand thing...

Because

It's time for me to out my obsession with The Bird and The Bee. Yes, I'm in love with a pop band. I don't even know how it happened, but somehow this record just gets stuck in your brainpan on play and will not quit. I won't even attempt a review of the debut record on Blue Note because Mike did a much better job. I will quote his masterpiece summary though: "60s French yé-yé girl vocalizing me.
