I think The Big Pink are going to blow up. If not in America, in Europe. The reason: Dominos. That track carries the potential and was made to burn through stadiums. So, see them now, because if I’m right and they go global, you’ll be thanking your lucky stars and bragging over drinks that you saw them when. Here’s the list of dates and the album, A Brief History Of Love is out Sept. 22n

The Big Pink are starting to get big I see (but not pink as far as I can tell) and that shouldn’t really surprise me considering that their single “Dominos”, off of the upcoming 4AD release A Brief History Of Love, is modern pop-ish rock at it’s finest. Nothing fancy – just catchy as hell, [...]

mp3: The Big Pink – DominosChorus of the year. There’s a reason why ‘Dominos’ begins with the chorus. Because if there’s any way this song can absorb you in time, it’s by repeating “These girls fall like dominoes, dominoes!” three times over. Production purposefully adds beef to the chorus. The verses are meaningless, merely keeping [...]

UK duo gets fuzzy and epic on their debut tribute to '90s shoegaze.Everything about the Big Pink screams imitation. From the name -- a reference to the seminal debut album by Canadian rockers the Band (no, its not a coincidence check the name of their website) -- to the cover art (The Pixies’ Surfer Rosa, maybe?), to their psychedelic-shoegaze sound, everything is in someway a rather obvious ge.

The Big Pink is a band following in the tradition of many a commercially successful brit-rock band. Like last year’s breakout act Glasvegas, The Big Pink have for about a year now been releasing singles (some in Japan only) and creating both a popular and critical frenzy in the process. They even won the Philip Hall Radar Award this year, the same honor Glasvegas received in 2008 at the NME Sho.

The weight of expectation that comes with The Big Pink's debut long player is well founded. The East London duo of vocalist/guitarist Robbie Furze and keyboardist/programmer Milo Cordell have all the artistic credentials and connections to forge a level of interest far beyond most. Furze was a member of techno rock experimentalists Alec Empire, and has been one of a number who has shouldered ta...

The Big Pink's 'Dominos' has been doing the rounds on the blogosphere for moons now and it is this song that put me off listening to this album sooner. Dominos is terrace-shanty type lager-boy drivel fest compared to the rest of this accomplished LP.

The Big Pink finally sunk in to my thick skull. It took posts from Neill, Marigold & Dachmo(last two, over on the dark side) to finally get me hooked. Marigold had posted a pre-album download which was less than stellar(not his fault, just what was available). Dachmo then posted the official album & the difference was incredible.I was encouraged to give it another listen & chance by Dach, and ...

Did you hold that thought about riffing? You know that leaving, departing from a place physically, is never as simple as just leaving. There are things that need doing—fly, breathe sea air, and find the elusive new perch of mine, to name some—and I can not seem to start them for as long as I am riffing, here. In other words, I apologize that I took some days to get used to the idea of leaving,
