At about the 1:34 mark in this Beatles cover of a Larry Williams song, Lennon uses the vocal tic which sounds a bit like b-b-b-b-b-r, almost a raspberry. When I heard this at the tender age of 14, I thought "WTF is THAT?" It seemed kind of bizarre and didn't really seem to work in the song. And it was not picked up and imitated by any other rockers of the era, either. I was totally mystified as to where such a tic could have come from. Fast forward forty years or so ... MORE
