If not for the fact that they were arguably the greatest rock band ever, they might well be just another 60s band named after a creature. But no, The Beatles are The Beatles, and any referent outside of them is neither here nor there. So I gotta admit I haven't been their biggest fan since I discovered Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin when I was a kid. But at the sametime they were one of the biggest 20th century turning points in recorded music history.
