Ten years ago the Beastie Boys released an all instrumental album called "The In Sound From Way Out". While this may have come as a surprise to a lot of Beastie fans, many saw it as a logical step from their last album "Ill Communication". Recently MOG news reported about a tech recycling program that The Beastie Boys have implemented at their live shows. It must be working out pretty well, because in addition to adding more dates to their nearly-sold-out tour, thus giving us more opportunities to recycle our old cell-phones PDA's etc, the trio is also taking their eco-game to the next level.For starters, the band will donate $1 from each ticket sale to an EcoFund. Earlier i mentioned that the Beastie Boys were about to drop another album on us, and hinted at the idea of it being instrumental, but then backpedaled when i couldn't back that up. well, i finally i found some clarification - the upcoming Beastie Boys album, The Mix Up is an instrumental album! The Beastie Boys have been super busy lately. Therefore, we will forgive them for announcing their L.A. gala event a couple days after tix went on sale. Chances are, most people wouldn't know that tix went on sale Saturday, if the Beasties didn't announce it until today, so it's probably ok. As of my writing this, the show was not sold out. When I was 17 I found myself in Daytona Beach, FL. On 'spring break' which seems even ridiculous to type, but alas, there I was. I had a fake I.D. that I made on a color copier at the local library, it really worked. I bought case after case of Harley beer with it. New Beastie Boys album hits the streets in June! Yauch reports to NME that the music onThe Mix Up is more in line with their earlier, more rock/punk styles like you hear on Check Your Head and Paul's Boutique. editi was mislead earlier when i said it was an instrumental album. i checked the story again on NME, and SPIN, and i don't see an indication that it is without vocals. what the BBoys announced, is that all the music on The Mix Up is played on guitars and drums... I hope the Beastie Boys aren't getting tired of guitars, drums, and bass already. They have posted more tour dates on their schedule and a few are labeled as an "Exclusive Instrumental Show."
