The band took a long time to shop the album around to different labels in order to secure favorable intellectual property rights to the music, something previous record contracts did not afford them.

Lately I have been exploring my love of comic books. My son Alex and I have been reading 'The Marvel Universe Handbook' together.
Marvel has always been my bag, though I will say DC has the costumed adventurer I always wished I could be. That was the Flash.
Growing up on a piece of isolated farmland in Pennsylvania my mind tended to wander. I read a lot (big surprise there) and one of the things that was in constant rotation (at least in monthly installm... MORE

The B-52’s have just completed recording a brand new album, their first in 15 years, with producer Steve Osborne (KT Tunstall, New Order, Manic Street Preachers) and programmers Damian Taylor (Bjork) and Pete Davis (New Order). Set for an early 2008 release, it maintains the band’s classic party vibe, but with a more modern direction. "There's more electronica on it," he said. "It's up-tempo and a bit sexed-up. It's sexier than ever,” says Fred.
There’s no doubt that fans ar... MORE

ATLANTA - Fifteen years after their last album of new material, The B-52s are wrapping up work on their next one. The quirky dance-pop outfit, which burst onto the new wave scene in 1979 with songs like “Rock Lobster” and cracked the pop charts in the late ’80s with the party classics “Love Shack” and “Roam,” returned to their hometown of Athens, Ga. to finish recording the as-yet unnamed record. “We all lived down there for two months and just got back in the swin... Just Wednesday, but it feels like a cause to be celibate, oh I mean be celebratory.... ...underneath a strobe light. "Where's my telephone?" "Is that you baby?"
"Yeah." "Got something to tell you."
"Oh, what?" I want to see you tonight
I want you to walk in the door
I want you to lay on the floor
Cause tonight's the night
We make love, under a stobe light
Underneath the strobe light Wanna make love to you under the strobe light
Wanna ma... MORE

Does Parker Posey even REALIZE how much she owes Cindy Wilson???? Cindy is just so groovy and cute as a button in the video for "Song For A Future Generation" from the 1983 B-52's album "Whammy!" - in fact the whole band seems like they've either having a very good time, or they've been dosed with windowpane and set loose on a 1960's variety TV show set. Not much to say other than forget "Love Shack" and give "Song For A Future Generation" a listen - an essential 80's tra... MORE

Happy New Year everybody. Think of me as I'm falling asleep during my very expensive pre-fixe dinner.

I consider myself to have a really crappy, well-paying retail job. Its hard to walk away from my earned vacations I get. Every single day I'm subjected to a mentally abusive array of adult contemporary filth. Jewel side by side with Texas, Paula Cole's "I don't Wanna wait" and Paula Abdul's "Rush, Rush." This happens every single day. I must admit that though the bitterly repeated music selection though very oppressive, they do give me about three or four minutes of orga... MORE
