AMG Review of Russell's Shorts
Frank Eisenhuth
All Music GuideRussell's Shorts was a good follow-up to the debut of the Arrogant Worms. With "Carrot Juice Is Murder" and "Rippy the Gator," it produced two of the group's classics, which are always heavily requested by the audience at live performances. The only weakness is however the somewhat inconsistent production, mixing the studio tracks with live recordings. The live version of "Having Fun Is Bad for You," for example, which could have been turned out great in a good studio version with a suitable arrangement, appears a bit overlong and wears out after a while. Nevertheless, there is still plenty of reason to chuckle while listening to this record, "Losing Hair Under God" being one of the highlights.
