I've got a new game for you. Everyone in the blogosphere knows that these blogs and such work with a little principal known as aggregation. Which if you don't know just means that the more something is linked to, or mentioned, the higher it ranks on sites like Digg and Redit, etc. Well, we all may agree that there are certain bands (like Arcade Fire) that just burn up the blogosphere with their hype. Which had me wondering:

Barack Obama sealed the Democratic ticket last night after beating New York senator and former first lady Hillary Clinton to the number of delegates and super-delegates needed for the party's presidential nomination. "Tonight we mark the end of one historic journey with the beginning of another -- a journey that will bring a new and better day to America," Obama announced to a rally in Minnesota as U2's "Beautiful Day" played. Not only does this mark the end of an inte... MORE
Members of Arcade Fire announced last week that they would be performing a free show in Ohio in support of presidential hopeful Barack Obama. Of course someone captured it on film and uploaded it to youTube: Cover of Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come": This user also captured "Power Out" but the rowdy nature of the song made the audio distort. If you want to check it out anyway:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70VXEP_F3uM According to the college paper, The Po... MORE
Arcade Fire have posted some kind of interactive music video that can only be viewed from rorrimkcalb.com... I'm guessing that's "Black Mirror" with a similar visual effect as "beonlineb" and then guessing that this is the official music vid for "Black Mirror." What do you think? Check out rorrimkcalb.com
Stereogum reports that the artwork is by Tracy Maurice.
Am feeling really pleased albeit hungover - my band played a brilliant gig last night; the feedback and applause was immense..! I danced at Trailor Trash afterwards (a gay club in London - hard hard hard electro) where the music was awesome... I must make more of an effort to get to that club (tsk tsk at self). And tonight, a rather dashing gentleman friend of mine is taking me to see The Arcade Fire... where I've been forewarned we are storming right up the front to the st... 1. Destiny's Child, "Lose My Breath." The writer's credits include eight people, including all three members of the group, Jay-Z, the Jerkins brothers, LaShawn Daniels, and Sean Garrett. Guess they didn't want people to think Beyoncé was hogging the spotlight. 2. Lloyd Banks, "I Get High." Definitions change over time. Back in the day, a mixtape was something you made for a friend. Now, it's a promo tool. In 2004, Lloyd Banks won an award for Mixtape Artist of the Year. ... MORE

To be fair to Gawker, they did warn me properly about the following video causing me a musical identity crisis. But to think that I have taste even remotely similar to Jenna Bush is enough to set my Upper West Side Jewish white liberal guilt meter a'blazin'.
To answer Win Butler's question, yes, Jenna, you are the antichrist.
This review is a little late but definitely worth posting. I could go on forever about how highly anticipated _Neon Bible_ was for not only me and everyone I know in the internets/mog community as well as the real community outside this "series of tubes" but I think their live performance is an entity worth discussing entirely by itself. The first issue of note is that I was a little surprised to find Arcade Fire playing a venue as huge as the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta... MORE
The Arcade Fire was actually at Sasquatch when I went this past June, but I didn't pay attention to their performance at all. Partly because I had not heard them before, partly because I was falling asleep since it was midnight almost, and partly because I was freezing my ass off.
Since then, I have given them a fair listen, and I really like their music. I always enjoy bands with multiple singers, so they satisfy that. I really like the songs that are sung by the girl. Her... MORE

(Shamelessly copied from my MySpace blog like most things I post on here.) Some bands can just transport you to someplace else. With a mix of music, stage presence and atmosphere, they can make you forget that you're stood in what effectively is a massive warehouse getting your hearing destroyed. The Arcade Fire (the "The" makes it sound like a historical event, which is suitable) go beyond that. Live, The Arcade Fire can make every little care you have just disappear.... MORE
