The mastermind behind The Raveonettes music - the one and only Sune Rose Wagner - has recorded 4 new demos .   After eagerly giving them a thorough listen through, its hard for me to contain my enthusiasm for these new songs!

The Raveonettes have said they are writing and recording three EPs in the midst of a busy touring schedule this summer, reports NME While Sharin Foo is in Los Angeles preparing for the birth of her child, the other half of the Danish duo -- Sune Rose Wagner -- is writing the EPs in between playing several festival dates with Foo's sister Louise, who is standing in for her. The Raveonettes and The Kills. I picture them as two super cool cars speeding along the same desolate two lane highway, side by side, one on the wrong side of the divider. I've been waiting for them to switch lanes, and with their latest releases it seems they are closer than ever to doing just that. The parallels have grown more clear, the pop sensibilities more often bubble to the surface, and when the recipe calls for noise, both go above and beyond the call of duty.

I bought The Raveonettes’ newest album, Lust Lust Lust, today on iTunes. Two songs into the preview, and I was dedicated. This album is the whole reason I listen to music, and I felt compelled to share.
I always hesitate to write reviews because, while I so enjoy music, I’m not particularly well-versed in music terminology, and at times I feel ill-equipped to endorse anything. After all, there are only so many ways a person can say that something rocks before it gets old... MORE

Last night the Raveonettes played a packed house at the Double Door in Chicago. It was my first time in the venue, and I was impressed. The place reminded me a lot of one of my favorite local venues that closed a few years ago; though Double Door is quite a bit larger. The old, black-painted interior with the dimly lit bar, an elevated stage and a great sound system felt exactly like my old bar used to feel though, and I couldn't have been happier about it. In the past 3 days in Austin, I've had more beer and BBQ than I think ever in my life. I've been a bit frustrated by the perpetual lines outside all the good shows, or that nagging little tug at the pit of your stomach as you watch one of your favorites band- while knowing 50 of your other favorites are playing in the 3 block radius. Not so long ago I lamented the Magnetic Fields' utter failure to channel the Jesus and Mary Chain despite trying their hardest on "Distortion." Now here come the Raveonettes with their own attempt, and it's much more successful. Loud, distorted, reverberating, and alternately sultry and sunny. The key is to add the element of danger, something the MF are far too wry to manage. "Aly Walk With Me," the lead-off single, gets about as close to "Sugar Ray" as needs to be gott... MORE

If you enjoyed 'The Chain Gang Of Love' & 'Whip It On', but thought 'Pretty In Black' was a little too slick, the new one, 'Lust Lust Lust' is more akin to their earlier CDs yet still very fresh sounding. It's loaded with feedback that that brings to mind Jesus & Mary Chain 'Psychocandy'. Sune Rose Wagner's surf / rockabilly style guitar playing is simply amazing.
