Two years, Oh My. This MOG rules. Seasons change as does everything. I'm not sure this track by The Kinks has ever made it to CD. I didn't spend too much time looking it up. My kinks collection is rather thin at about 5 or 6 cds & a dozen or so albums. Also a few singles. This is one of them. I've long liked this song and it seems apt.

Can't say how I found it, but I enjoyed reading a Mark Cuban blog post the other day. (If you don't know, Cuban is the owner of the NBA's Dallas Maverick's and considered one of the first dot com billionaires.) A little over a week ago, Mr. Cuban talked about a movie’s official soundtrack. A few get really popular - these days the hype is for Juno - but most just languish in the final end credits that no one watches long enough to read anyway. So if most of them aren’t ... MORE
I really have missed it here. So, after being a dick about Monterey Pop, I've decided to spend some time writing about the genius of the Kinks. Growing up, I knew the Kinks mostly as the band of "Lola," "You Really Got Me" and "Destroyer." (They were also the concert I was attending when a colossal biker evicted me from a bathroom stall mid-urination, thus engendering a case of publc bathroom stage fright that took quite a while to get over.) But in recent years, I'... MORE
Court Ruling Could End P2P Music-Download Lawsuits
A federal court has dealt a body blow to the recording industry's efforts to sue people who use peer-to-peer software to download music from the Internet. In fact, says one copyright lawyer, the P2P decision could mean the end of the Recording Industry Association of America's litigation strategy. In Atlantic Records v. Howell, U.S. District Court Judge Neil V. Wake rejected the RIAA's theory that the defendants distributed... MORE
Another incredibly artful film by Wes Anderson. I saw this movie last night and felt it was necessary to share, not only how wonderfully entertaining this comedy/drama/adventure is, but also how audibly pleasing the soundtrack is. Three songs from The Kinks, "Playing with Fire" by the Rolling Stones and one particular song that plays numerous times throughout the movie, "Where Do You Go to (My Lovely)" by Peter Sarstedt. The video I posted of it bel... MORE
I guess this is the kind of funky I'm feeling tonight. Sittin' here wonderin' if I'm readin' this right. You say I can't read 'cause I can't see the light. She says our daydreams are beacons of might.Still others, blinded by science and deaf to their senses, are so busy building electrified fences between idols & angels and diefied mensas.... And they're all right! "I don't wanna live in this world no more,I don't wanna die in a nuclear war,I wanna sail away to a distan... MORE

RGM of DeadManS OrcheStra says:According to Ray, when the Kinks went into the studio to record You Really Got Me, it was decided (by who precisely, i forget) that Mick Avory wasn't a good enough drummer to record, so there was a studio durmmer, who apparently wasn't really ready for what was going to happen.
