So, I wake up yesterday morning and I realize, almost immediately, that I needed a new cd to listen to on the drive to work. For a couple days I had been listening to R.L. So, on my second full day I first went to the National Museum and found out that from all the non-modern art I like the Ashcan Artists the most and that I like portraits artists made of rich people the least. The Go! Team's cd Proof of Youth was released today. It included a bonus disc with 3 more songs and a remix of Grip Like a Vice.
I like this song, it kind of has that TLS vibe going on. Heavy on the cheerleading.

American fans of Go! Team will receive an extra incentive to purchase the album when it drops this September 11th. That incentive comes in the form of an extra EP, which will be comprised of B-sides that have only been released overseas. Michael Cera and friend Clark Duke have created a show of sorts, to debut on the internet on May 26th. It has a lot of Arrested Development cameos. This is my favorite of the two previews because of the use of The Go! Team song Huddle Formation. I love when it starts up right with that freeze frame of them in mid-jump on the beach. And Mitch Hurwitz's first few lines are awesome.

The Go! Team has me hooked. I've only heard one song, Lady Flash, but it's dense with layered samples and instruments on top. It's so well put together it's hard to tell which parts are the band and which are samples. I haven't heard any indie electronic pop this well done. It's luciously poppy, shake your ass kind of music. Well chosen samples and the lead female vocals exceed most I've heard recently. Plus it sounds like it was all recorded in someone's garage. ... Well, autumn is here. It's effing cold, the sky is grey and I feel like hibernating. At such times, I set my iTunes to Random and wait for some kind of inspiring, uplifting song to appear. This time, I got a result that I didn't expect - I only had The Go! Teams' "Thunder Lightning Strike" for a short time, and until yet didn't find the time to listen to it. Then "Bottle Rocket" came along, and this song rocks so hard I almost feel like it's squat in the middle of summer.
