Just in time for the holiday season the Flaming Lips will finally release their years-in-the-making, Christmas baby-praising, experimental sci-fi film Christmas on Mars November 11th, according to the band's Web site. In addition to the DVD, which includes the usual extra jargon (interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and outtakes) a special edition CD soundtrack and DVD package will also be available. The Flaming Lips are starting voting season off early. The Lips' Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots track "Do You Realize?" has been nominated for Official State of Oklahoma Rock Song. It's up again nine other tracks mostly inspired or written by Oklahomans. Well, the madness of the holiday is in the past now. We can stow the Christmas Music for another year. Now, as we gear up for New Year's Celebrations, I start with a toast to help ScottFree commemorate his team's season.
But lest we forget, There is more to life than Football, sex, drugs, & Rock n Roll.

The Flaming Lips have announced the forthcoming release of their feature film, ‘Christmas On Mars‘, on DVD. The long-awaited film will be released on DVD on November 11 and will run 86-mintures. Ever hear a tune on the TV, maybe in a commercial, and think "ZOMGZ, I need that song!" Happened to me a little while ago. The Flaming Lips will be honored in their hometown of Oklahoma City after a street in the city's Bricktown district is named after the alt-psych band. Yes, now tourists in the the bible-belt city will be able to take a stroll down Flaming Lips Alley after the October 25th dedication ceremony. The day has finally come. The two-fold Friday, possibly the best one of the year.
