A hop and a skip later, pretty much starting from scratch came "Long Gone Before Daylight", the polar opposite of "Gran Turismo" or really anything that came before it. Mostly mellow and even a bit twangy, it sparked the biggest sea change for the Cardigans yet. A nice one to sleep to, and maybe be a little melancholy too... MORE

When I first heard The Cardigans, I did not like them at all. The music sounded pointless and the vocals annoyingly sweet. Then, they got a bit dirty and a bit tortured with Gran Turismo and convinced me that they can write memorable, emotionally-powerful songs. Yesterday I got reminded of Hanging Around, a forgotten (no more) favourite of mine and I wanted to share. I'm having a general Cardigans day today, and found the video for "Sick And Tired" from their 1996 "Life" album. I've liked the album a lot for years but I'd never seen the video until today. For such a dour lyrical message, the music's so sweet and simple and the video suits it perfectly. Talking of Cardigans videos, Youtube also has the banned video for "My Favourite Game".
