The Bad Plus stole the entire cake last night at the MFA. The show was quite inspirational, transcending all expectations. I am not so familiar with the band, but on the suggestion of a friend whoose musical tastes I trust, I bought the somewhat expensive $20 ticket, blind (or deaf) to the band in particular. I held off from listening to anything before the show. These three guys come out and are start a set which was literally mind blowing. I don't mean to be a show snob,... MORE

I'm not the biggest fan of jazzm honestly. I like a lot of jazz influence in my music, but straight up jazz usually bores me after awhile. However, The Bad Plus are one of those bands that are just really, really good and keep me interested, despite the fact that they play the music that snobbish music reviewers like to review with words like "deconstruction" and "cultural importance."

Ah, the Mid-West. A slower way of life, where the airport McDonalds stops selling breakfast at 10 am (!!!!). Luckily, i slid in with 2 minutes to spare and hot some hotcakes and sausage that i'm sure will wreck havoc on my digestive track later. Whenever i come to a new city, i try and listen to/appreciate some local treasures, and one of my favorite bands, the Bad Plus, are 2/3 a Minneosta band, so i feel it is a good choice to listen to in their airport.
