The vast majority of Ted Nugent fans would probably agree -- while some of his solo recordings are indeed hard rock classics (specifically those released between 1975 and 1978), there's nothing like experiencing the Nuge on the concert stage. The man -- who at one point was known for taking the stage in little besides a skimpy loincloth and a Gibson Byrdland -- has slayed countless crowds over the years, and 1978's in-concert set Double Live Gonzo! confirmed Ted's on-stage ferocity. And despite a dip in quality with his studio albums once the '80s began, he's always been the same over the top, outspoken concert performer. The Nugent edition of the budget-priced Extended Versions series features pretty swell renditions of quite a few Nuge classics, including such six-string showcases as "Stranglehold" and Ted's best-known ditty, "Cat Scratch Fever," as well as "Dog Eat Dog" and "Just What the Doctor Ordered." Not on par with the aforementioned Double Live Gonzo!, but for an affordable taster of live Nuge, Extended Versions is definitely recommended.
