It’s no secret we here at Pasta Primavera are some old school Superdrag fans. They’re just about to finish up in the studio for a brand new album featuring all the original members. The other day the guys from Knoxville were nice enough to make Filthy And Afraid, a new track off the album, available [...]
I am a Sirius satellite radio subscriber, and I love the service to death. But the 90's alternative channel needs some serious tuning up. I applied (unsolicited of course)for the job of program director on that channel...shockingly, Sirius hasn't returned my call yet :-)But I digress. The station is perfect in concept, but in practice they only play like 20 bands...basically Oasis, all things S...
It's been more than 6 years since we've heard from Knoxville's Superdrag. It's been much longer since we've heard any new music from the band's original line-up.Both of those things will change tomorrow (Mar. 17th) when we get Industry Giants, the band's first album since 2003, and the first with the original quartet since 1998.A few tracks into Industry Giants and it becomes clear that
On this coming April 11th "Superdrag":http://mog.com/music/Superdrag and "Nada Surf":http://mog.com/music/Nada_Surf are playing up in New York City. I think my greatest musical regret of 2007 was not seeing Superdrag when they played at the 9:30 Club back in November, so I don't want to pass up this opportunity to see them.Plan is to take the train up to NYC from DC Friday morning, catch some ...
Superdrag's debut album Regretfully Yours was the first CD I had that no one else had ever heard of. The song you've heard is Track 4 - "Sucked Out" - Kissing the bride45 minutes a sideThis was my dream - Played out rockin routineWho sucked out the feeling?Who sucked out the feeling? That single was trippy and catchy just enough to get me to buy the CD. When I did, I discovered a band that I'v...
Just got this...it's really interesting to find something about music, but at the same time isn't so trendy like MySpace. Looking to talk to people who are as into music as I am, and looking to be exposed to new local artists and other artists I should know about.
Right now, I'm listening to a Superdrag CD. I don't know why I waited this long to get it - for almost 10 years, I subsisted on a dinky cassette tape. It's ancient and I liked that about it. It was my first exposure and I couldn't give it up. That cassette, man. I listened to it so many times the tape literally broke inside. I could hear the music of "She is a Holy Grail" in my dreams, the thi...
Superdrag is back! They have a new album coming soon. I hope this song is a pretty good indication of what is to come. One thing for sure they have not lost thier airborn tendency to rock! Love this pick. The video was done back in 1996. Industry Giants, the new EP, will be Superdrag's first full studio album with the original line-up of Coffey, Davis, Fisher, and Pappas since 1998.
Happy St. Patrick's Day! Thanks in part to a weekend that didn't end until Monday night, our list for this week lacks as many links and artists being highlighted as we would normally like. After spending the weekend up in Boston and taking in the sights (see photo above) and sounds (bagpipes) of one of the country's largest parades, we just couldn't pull ourselves to do anything other than rela...
Superdrag has been on hiatus since shortly after their last release, 2002's Last Call For Vitriol. The original members of the band (that is Superdrag circa 1992) reunited for their latest release Industry Giants, which was produced by singer and guitarist John Davis and recorded by the band themselves. The first and last time I saw the band was in 2003 when they opened for Mod-God Paul Weller....
When Superdrag called it quits early this decade most of us probably never thought we'd hear "Sucked Out" in person again, but after releasing two solo albums John Davis decided to get the band back together again. After a hugely successful tour, the band headed into the studio to record Industry Giants their first band record in ages! I had the chance to chat with Davis about the return of Sup...
