There's something about Oregon Winters, how bleak the days can be, the afternoons lazily going by, and getting used to the endless variety of cloud cover, be it white or cream-colored, that makes me think about Sun Kil Moon. You have the one side of Ocean Breathes Salty, which is the version song by Sun Kil Moon on their album Tiny Cities. I've been digging the music that Mark Kozelek has made (on his own, leading the Red House Painters and fronting Sun Kil Moon) since I first heard the Red House Painters live at a small club in San Francisco in 1991.
The latest Sun Kil Moon album, April, is excellent. Here's a song off it.

Sun Kil Moon just announced their follow-up to Ghosts of the Great Highway will be released on April Fool's Day 2008. The new album is titled April and will be released on Mark Kozelek's own Caldo Verde label. Sun Kil Moon just announced a string of live shows in the UK in support of their latest album April. Main man Mark Kozalek will bring a 4-piece band for the shows which begin in Brighton on September 10th. So far, Ben Gibbard is not expected to join this tour despite being a guest vocalist on April. I just found radical piece of software called AirFoil that gets rid of the obscenely offensive restriction of allowing only iTunes to access your AirPort. AirFoil allows your wireless speakers to play sounds from any application on your computer!!! I have been blasting tunes all day long. Down side, after ten minutes of play, AirFoil adds an ugly hiss to your songs unless you pay 25 bucks for the software. I have found a mini-hack. If you just keep pressing the speaker ... MORE

It had been almost 12yrs since I had seen the ocean last...and I had never seen the Pacific Ocean...until today.
I spent close to 4 hours walking up and down the beach...just listening to music and soaking everything in and taking pictures. Today was pretty much one of the best days of my life.

I am in fact bored on a Friday night in the heart of Hollywood. But it is a sort of self induced boredom.
