Suede was the most underrated artists from the Brit Pop generation. They arrived with all the love and poison of London and then my one of my favorite bands stalled before reaching immortality. This one of my favorite covers, their version of The Pretenders Brass in Pocket from the now out of print Ruby Trax compilation released in the mid-nineties. A sultry tribute that would make Chrissie Hynde proud.

This song is, and always will be, one of the sexiest songs of all time. This is what Britpoppers and Indierockers give lapdances to (really). Brett Anderson's androgynous style and hip swings bring out the animal in you, his voice sounds like underwear being torn apart and the guitars resemble the feeling of nails scratching down your back. If songs had scents, this one would smell like leather.

Catching up with The Guardian music section this eve, and came across a splendid piece written by (or spoken by, anyway) former Suede-man Bernard Butler in which he says all the "right" things (to someone of my sensibilities, anyway) about guitars and the people who use them.
