On November 30, Nic Harcourt will resign as Music Director of KCRW. He is the familiar voice who hosts the program "Morning Becomes Eclectic". He will still continue to host "Morning Becomes Eclectic". The station is hoping to replace him in the upcoming weeks. Stephen Malkmus - Post-Paint Boy (Live on KCRW)

You can watch the video below. Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks - Dragonfly Pie (Shake Me Off The Knife) [Live on ...
The Cribs' Gary Jarman. Weezer's Brian Bell. Modest Mouse's Joe Plummer. Girl Talk aka Gregg Gills. Ratatat. This may sound like the coolest tea ever, but it's actually the all-star cast set to appear in the new Stephen Malkmus and the Jick's video for "Gardenia."The track, fresh off this spring's Real Emotional Trash, is directed by Portland-based film maker Daniel Wood and features the afore...
Having hung out on consecutive nights (Thursday and Friday) till 4 and 5 in the morning watching the UK band The Indelicates play shows and then acquiesce to my interviews, respectively - what was one to do on the following afteroon/evening? Why, attend the Village Voice Siren Festival at Coney Island! The plan was hatched when the Indelicates bassist Kate and I discovered we both wanted to real...

What the fuck was I thinking. Skipping the Pitchfork Music Festival. My favoritist-ist music artist of all time...Stephen Malkmus played a solo set. I knew he would probably pull out some suprises since he was Jick-less (minus his band). He surpassed that by more that a little. He stepped up and started the set with Heaven Is A Truck (old Pavement song. Whoa. I miss Pavement. From there he broke ...
Stephen Malkmus at Phoenix Concert Theatre (July 16, 2008)It's taking me a little longer than expected to get up a review of the Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks show at Phoenix on July 16 (and I might just abandon it altogether). But having attended a wedding/reception on Saturday and Rogers Picnic on Sunday, I am pooped.Photos from the show over at Flickr.MySpace: Still Life StillMySpace: Stephe...
Stephen Malkmus told Spin.com in a phone interview about new material from the Jicks and the recording of a new album. He told them about some new songs: "We've been playing, like, six of the new songs live, often to the chagrin of some people who have never heard 'em before. There's 'Sentimental Lesbians -- it's a working title.... There's one called 'Astro Facial .' and there's 'The Del Rey...
Portland Filmmaker Dan Woods got a bunch of sorta-familiar indie rockers to sing "Gardenia," which is a fine backup plan when Stephen Malkmus is too much of a Jick to show up to his own video shoot. (J/K, Stevie.) Fortunately Portland is an indie rock theme park and a proven breeding round for fun name-that-cameo video s. In addition to lip-synching from Weezer's Brian Bell, Cribs' Gary Jarmin,...
One of my favorite songs off Malkmus's Real Emotional Trash. I know this is from a while ago, but just seeing it now. He also did "Hopscotch Willie" & "Wicked Wanda"
Adding another entry to the canon unexpected covers , Steve Malkmus & the Jicks teamed up with stage mates and fellow Portland residents Blitzen Trapper to put a spin on James Gang's James Gang Ride Again classic "Funk #49." The hootenanny took place at the Pageant in St. Louis this past Saturday. It involves as much awkward dancing as it does inventive percussion -- see SM's bottle water, for ...
