This is the first time I've ever listened to a St. Vincent song in full. I've seen her frail, kooky looking image plastered all over internet/magazine ads, but I've never heard someone say "you gotta hear this St. Vincent track!" so I never really bothered to listen besides 30 second increments here and there. I have a short attention span for music I don't know, which sucks, because a lot of t...
Superbusy with school and a possible new comic gig, so haven't spent much time here at all lately. Apologies for that. A couple of things though:- I read this on Warren Ellis' almost daily emails to his list. For those who don't know, Warren Ellis is one of the most celebrated comic book writers of this generation (Transmetropolitan, Planetary). In his list he sends out random thoughts about an...
St. Vincent’s upcoming Actor LP is being heralded as a more sonically diverse album with deeper layers in each song. The first song we heard, “The Strangers”, supported that claim, and this new song, “Actor Out Of Work”, certainly does as well.mp3: St. Vincent - Actor Out Of WorkActor drops on May 5th.
No one can resist the charm of Annie Clark. Her latest video for "Marrow" directed by Terri Timely from St. Vincent's Actor makes it nearly impossible to take your eyes off Annie's storybook curls and freckles in the sandy dessert. See how I just made a movie reference there? Dang. The video starts with her at someone's grave site (possibly her own?) so it's debatable who is dead or alive. Is sh...
Oklahoma-residing multi-instrumentalist St. Vincent AKA Annie Clarke released her second L. P back in May by the name of 'Actor'. Whilst she's currently busy on a European tour to support the record with Grizzly Bear, she's gone ahead and confirmed more tour dates; this time set for her homeland of North America in January and February of 2010.
Today started out particularly crappy. Lucky for me the day instantly turned around when I found out that those awesome dudes over at Stateside just announced St. Vincent will be returning to Phoenix this February for a show at the Rhythm Room. Shawn and I were both at St. Vincent's show this past May at Modified Arts and it was absolutely fantastic. Tickets are already on sale here for a rea...

To promote her new song with Bon Iver on the Twilight: New Moon soundtrack, St. Vincent has decided to bring the kids from Twilight on the road with her next year. Unfortunately, they're too busy making headlines with their hand-holding to actually accompany her, so cardboard cut-outs of Robert Pattinson will have to do instead. The St. Vincent Saga: New Tour: 01.29.10 - New York, NY - Lincoln ...
Annie Clark aka St. Vincent is back on the scene with the announcement of a new album. Actor will be released on May 5th via 4AD and features a grander, more complex album that builds on her stunning debut Marry Me . Clark says "I wanted to make these songs technicolor animatronic rides." Sounds good right? Just for a refresher here's a sparkling track from Marry Me :mp3: St. Vincent - Pari...

Socke Merde! If only I could have been at this performance. Fortunately, Andrew Bird and St. Vincent will be touring together in the US, but alas! they won't be coming to the west coast. Those on the east coast will get a chance to see them (their dates are below), and I strongly recommend their show.JP's Blog posted the video from Soiree de Poche, which you should definitely take a look. Okay, okay. White flag. I'll be the first male admit it: Annie Clark (a.k.a. St. Vincent is proof-positive of ye olde time-honored axiom that “Girls Rule, Boys Drool.” She's cool, confident, and funny; she bros down and hangs out with dudes all day for months at a time, she covers The Beatles without fear (or even too much reverence), she releases top-notch records like this year's Actor (TMT
