Jason Pierce is maddening. His live performance at the Coachella Festival last April was underwhelming. Immobile other than strumming an acoustic guitar, sitting sideways to the audience whilst barely acknowledging them and wearing mirrored sunglasses, you could say Pierce was the antithesis of enthusiasm and energy. I have to admit being skeptical that the new Spiritualized would be good. Not only is it good, I would maybe say it is even great. J Spaceman (Jason Pierce) nails it with this one. Songs in A & E drips thoughts and emotions of pain, suffering, hope and joy while screaming frailty. It really seems to capture his recent near death experience. I can't help but feel encompassed by the sincerity that falls from this record. It is still early but this could easily become one of ... MORE

Spiritualized have revealed the cover art for their upcoming LP Songs In A&E. The album will be released on May 26th via Universal/Spaceman. The deluxe CD and double LP versions were designed by Mark Farrow, who's been designing the band's album art since 1997's Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space "blister pack." Allegedly, the imagery was inspired by Jason Pierce's near-fatal experience with pneumonia, but I think it's excuse to produce heroin porn. Acc... MORE

Finally, after much suspense, Jason Pierce and Spiritualized announced the title and tracklist for their upcoming new album. Songs In A&E is the band's sixth studio album and it will be released on May 19th via Universal/Spaceman Records. The US release will be later and announced shortly. Today we receive yet another update about the forthcoming new Spiritualized album Songs in A&E. As previously reported on MOG, the album will be released in the UK/Europe on May 19th. Today the US release date was finally announced: June 13th. Billboard reports that "Soul On Fire" will be the first single and will be released on CD as well as digitally.
