I couldn't help but to notice that this week, the same week their new 'music label' issued a compilation disc from Sonic Youth, that Starbucks had to close 600 more stores. I have a feeling that in some New York City basement Kim, Thurston, and Lee are rocking out and totally digging the irony of all of this right about now. And with all due respect to Starbucks employees(I have been downsized - it sucks), but maybe if they didn't build a Starbucks on EVERY OT... MORE

Why?
I like the music of then a lot more. Lately I've been listening to Sonic Youth and the Pixies on my way to work. I never realized how awesome Daydream Nation is. I love any song where Kim Gordon is doing her sexy talking/singing voice. The guitar crunchiness of each song just takes me back to the early 90's (when I was in 8th/9th grade).
I miss those times.

I'm supposed to review Prince's Planet Earth today. I will (perhaps in brief). Just not yet. First, let's talk about the good things in life. (Oh snap...) Last night, I had a phenomenal time. Sean and I waltzed into the Berkeley Community Theatre at 9:15 AM and promptly realized we had missed "Teen Age Riot" when we heard the opening of "Silver Rocket" from the front doors. The reissue of Sonic Youth's 1988 masterpiece, Daydream Nation, is a two-CD set that will include what was when it was first released a two album vinyl set on one CD, and another CD, "Live Daydream," of for the most part previously unreleased live recordings. Rolling Stone has the goods today - 2 songs off the upcoming deluxe edition of Daydream Nation from Sonic Youth. You can listen to streaming audio of "Teen Age Riot" and "Silver Rocket" off the RS blog.
