To capture the mood of our times with the album cover for ZEITGEIST—the forthcoming album by THE SMASHING PUMPKINS—the band turned to acclaimed Obey Giant graphic designer and illustrator Shepard Fairey. After being given the album’s title to work with, Fairey came up with a haunting image: it’s a red, black and white illustration of a drowning Statue of Liberty, positioned in front of the
The Smashing Pumpkins album Zeitgeist doesn't come out until July 10th, but the band just released a very random video for its first single "Tarantula." The Pumpkins are in the middle of their Asheville, North Carolina residency and will head west, following New York's Live Earth concert on July 7th, to play eleven nights at San Francisco's Fillmore.
Wasn't it originally supposed to be "The" Smashing Pumpkins? As in, "I say, gov'na, those are some smashing pumpkins!"? Well whatever. I just heard the single "Tarantula" from Smashing Pumpkins new album Zeitgeist. All I can say is "Ew. Ew. Ew. Go back to the 90s." Yeesh, what a crappy track. It's got like seventeen guitar solos and it's only 4 minutes long. God. Anyone else around here going to those shows? What nights? Here's a YouTube clip of Tranatula (sorry abo...

We were told the new album was called "Zeitgeist," that it would be released on a Saturday in July (07.07.07).The exuberance began to wane once we realized what the "reunion" of Smashing Pumpkins really was...
Below is a link to a site that has streaming audio of the new single, "Tarantula". This is a pretty clean stream (unlike some of the radio rips out there).http://www.spinner.com/2007/05/18/new-music-tarantula-by-smashing-pumpkins/
