Zeitgeist got mixed reviews, some of which are founded not on the music, but on the re-conceptualization of the Pumpkins' direction (See Stephen Entwistle's review on www.allmusic.com). To me the weakness is not with the conceptualization - if Billy Corgan wants to lament about this failing country instead of his tortured soul, more power to him, regardless of past endeavors - the weakness of the original cd lied in the lack of eclecticism and acoustic melodies.
