--- - |- MP3: Sleater-Kinney - You're No Rock N' Roll Fun Hello friends and welcome to a new feature here on Fuck yeah! Go team! titled "The Best Song Ever". It's really self explanatory, this is where you'll read about our favourite songs and maybe find something new. While I enjoy doing this mp3 blog, lately it seemed to focus on new releases, which is no fun. I want this blog to re...

Drama on the high seas - Girls Camp Day 4

I wonder if I've driven everyone away by these, because I can't imagine these posts being interesting for anyone but me. If you have read all four of these the whole way through, you deserve a big gold star. It's a natural fact that when you put 100 women in a cramped location, that drama will happen. Us men are normally (aside from Gale our fearless leader) just not privy to all of it. This da...

Like a Whole Bucket Of Stars

I've been feeling depressed about this season all weekend. It's probably not anything that you guys aren't feeling; how am I going to afford Christmas, and still be able to eat? How will I get my kids to not look at this day like a day for presents? The weather here really isn't helping. It's been gray, cold, and drizzly since Saturday. It's raining again as we speak, and it's cold enough that t...

1. OutKast, "So Fresh, So Clean." The album went quadruple-platinum. I think that means it sold 4 million copies.2. Kronos Quartet, "Winter: Lux Aeterna." Even if you don't think you know this one, you know it, as it has become ubiquitous over the years. You'll think it was written hundreds of years ago, but you'll be wrong.3. Sleater-Kinney, "Youth Decay." So many to choose from, but in the ru...

9/11

Such a sad day here in the States. This song serves as a somber reminder of the day everything changed. Corin Tucker of Sleater-Kinney wrote this from Portland hours after watching the Trade Centers fall on tv. Such a powerful song, it really brings back the helpless feelings and the confusion we all had that day. The entire album 'One Beat' was actually written in the weeks following 9/11/01......

1. Usher, "You Make Me Wanna." Not sure what this means, but when Usher comes on the TV, even my prefers-oldies wife recognizes him.2. Third Eye Blind, "Semi-Charmed Life." If they were a flat-out pop band, this would be a classic, if perhaps of the guilty pleasure variety. Since they are nominally an "alternative" band, critics never liked them … not cool enough for the alt-crowd, or something.

I'm telling you, the wonders abound at the 'ole book hole...here's another LP I found by a group that was good but I was too busy to get into when they were out and about, Sleater-Kinney...if you're one of my trusteds, then you already know that I loves my chicks with picks..so when I saw it, I recognized the name from my mental rolodex of "bands I oughta check but never really did." I've heard...

1. Tracy Bonham, "Mother Mother." It's not fair to call Bonham a one-hit wonder … she has continued to make music to this day. But she waited five years after this to release another album, and that's not the best way to keep your name in the mainstream.2. The Tony Rich Project, "Nobody Knows." I continue to argue that this is one very weird song. Rich explains that his heart is broken, and no .
