Minor bummer. Discovered earlier today that water leaked from the oh-so-sketchy washing machine pipes in the demolished laundry room upstairs on the main floor down to the basement. Right on top of where some of my CDs were being stored. Only one batch/box. Mostly bonus DVD versions and digi-packs. Totally had to disgard misc. CMJ comps + Certain Damage Vol. misc. Major bummer. Lost causes (artwork, not music): Morphine, Primus, Hellcat comp., QOTSA , Thrice, The... MORE

Last night I got a chance to view Sigur Ros' film 'Heima'. I have never really gotten in the group. But my girlfriend brought me to her church where they were screening the film, and I have to say that it was one of the most hypnotically beautiful films I have seen in a while. Eerie and haunting, it is visually and sonically impressive. I definitely gave me a new respect for them. I recommend it to everyone fan or not. You'll be impressed.... MORE

Sigur Ros last year made a movie - its first - about home, which for them is Iceland. It's called Heima. What's exciting is that the entire movie has been posted to YouTube - officially, I believe - for our viewing pleasure. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, but it's said to be very inspirational and beautiful, much like the band's unique music. I'm so excited to see it. I hope you are, too.... MORE

In an unprecedented event, Icelandic chanter Sigur Ros will take over the YouTube homepage for the entire day tomorrow (Friday, March 7th, 2008). The band will screen their double-disc documentary Heima, which was taped during a free, unannounced 2006 tour of the band's homeland. Sigur Ros hit up some 16 venues, including a fishing factory and a cave.
Sigur Ros will take over all twelve slots on the YouTube home page, playing videos from their repertoire and new foota... MORE

According to the band's website, this friday (7th of march), Sigur Rós will occupy the whole front page of youtube.com And, lucky for those who have yet to see it, the main feature of the homepage will be the entire Heima music documentary.
As if that wasn't enough, the top ten entries to the 'Minn Heima' competition will be featured too along with a message from the band themselves. Can't wait to see this, hopefully it'll introduce one of the best and most origina... MORE

okay i did this because i read somewhere on the internets that a couple tracks on sigurs album 'agaetis byrjun' were tinkered with. the first and last tracks to be exact. and since i have the tools and programs at my disposal i thought i would take a gander. turns out, track 1, 'intro' is really just a clip of a different version of the song 'agaetis byrjun' and played in reverse. track 10, titled 'avalon' is a clip of the instrumental to the song 'staralfur' however, i had t... lately ive been going through a heavy obsession with sigur ros (more so than normal that is). i even started looking for a new home... in isafjordur. just look at those winters! how quaint! i just got "()" and the soundtrack to the movie "angels of the universe" which is basically an instrumental album conducted by icelandic composer hilmar orn hilmarsson, but it has 2 sigur songs at the end! woot! the songs are 'bium bium bambalo' which is an old time lullaby in ... Yeah, those guys are a busy lot. They've only just finished promoting their latest CD and DVD and now they're in New York recording a new album with producer Flood, according to their website and myspace.
Apparently they're anticipating "a quick, neat job - maybe even ready for release by the summer". They've only performed one song from this new material so far, which was "about 10 minutes long and featured gítardjamm-ish vocals, a kicking bassline and the fastest drumm... MORE

Anyone who has Sigur Ros as a Friend on Myspace may have read their bulletin regarding screenings of Heima. I'm looking to get enough people together to make it happen here in Adelaide, Australia, but I'd struggle finding ten people to come along with me, let alone enough to fill a cinema. So... if there are any r-adeladian fans of Sigur Ros out there who would like to help me with my cause, I'd love some feedback so we can make this happen :)... MORE

This is my first Mog and it will be a very short one; I don't have any queries or topics for discussion, as I fear that there is nothing I could say which would do them any sort of justice. I just hope that by avoiding an attempt at a review when I so badly want to vent about how Sigur Rós makes my heart stretch and sing, I can rightly express how much the Icelandic artists mean to me and how their film has only intensified the love affair I have with their band.

Drunk, cause I drank drinks. Which makes me introspective and as such... Damn Sigur Ros (no I am not going to go into the character map for 83 minutes to figure out how to put the proper accents on this), Hoppipolla came on. At the best of times, it makes me feel like I could achieve whatever I wanted. At this point, it makes me wonder why I haven't already. Internet + alcohol = honesty, if only for a brief period. And so things go. Here is a video for ... MORE

Wow. Several months ago, I bought my first Sigur Ros album, and I truly believe there is no better album out there for me. Every time I hear them, I'm thrown into a dream world. They fit my every mood. Whether I'm happy or sad... Any one song by them could fit any and (almost) all of my various moods. I don't even understand what he's saying, but that's the beauty in it, for me. A lot of the songs that the singer writes are in a language he himself made up, so no one can unde... MORE

i have another mystery i need someone to help me solve. i ran across this artwork on the sigur ros website and i desperately want to know what it says but...i am just not sure what it could mean. is this jonsi's made-up language? is it icelandic? does it have to do with a certain song? was it on an album?
does anyone have any insight into this? i'll buy the winner a beer!
