Sigur Ros are smokin'! The band's 2007 documentary Heima was just named the Top All-Time Documentary by IMDB, the highly respected movie industry database. Heima, which followed the band on the 2006 tour of their homeland, beats out Martin Scorsese's Bob Dylan homage No Direction Home and all of Michael Moore's provocative films, despite Moore getting more votes. My secret Santa has decided to continue to be a secret, and since I have not yet been able to deduce who it is and send a proper Mogmail thanking her (I think it's a her,, but who knows, maybe a he. Whoever it was has very nice penmanship, which in my experience tends to suggest female.) But the real skill was in figuring out not one but two excellent mixes! One for me, one for my wonderful son
As I was laying on my couch listening to my Sigur Ros record this morning, old conversations floated to mind. Hoppipolla was playing, and I kept getting pulled into the sound of the music. Sigur Ros is an Icelandic band, and the songs they sing are not in English. Sometimes it bothers me to not know the lyrics to a song to which I am listening. Sometimes it just doesn't matter. At the best of times, it makes me feel like I could achieve whatever I wanted. At this point, it makes me wonder why I haven't already.Internet + alcohol = honesty, if only...
So I've been recording & playing around with this song I recorded on Wednesday night. It sounds like the tag I put on this post. I will edit this post when I master it for the intertubes. And go.
So, I got to get a root canal yesterday. That was fun. During the whole thing, they had station crap from XM Radio playing. Seriously, is there anything worse than listening to Nickelback's "photograph" while having your tooth's root killed and pulled out? Or maybe a little Daniel Powter while they seal the tooth off? Gah. I should have gone to Dr. Giggles. I had to come home and listen ...
