This record happens. Not sure if that is how the Shout Out Louds arrived at their sound or not, but as I listened to this album, all's I heard was the Cure. Not saying that is an entirely bad thing...the album doesn't break into any uncharted sonic territory or anything, but its a good record. I guess the moral of the story is that if you are going to heavily lean on an 80's band for your sound...

Shout Out Louds will release their latest album Work (which has sort of a Fleetwood Mac-ish album cover in my humble opinion, which is a good sign) on February 23rd, and have offered up a taste of what to expect with a free download on their website of the song “Walls”. And for the [...]

Shout Out Louds Work (Merge) Releasing: 23 February "Walls" is the perfect song for an anthem or a movie soundtrack or for making taking the bus feel much more grandiose and exhilarating. It's almost cruel the way its crescendo hooks into that very Bruce Springsteenian impulse to drop inhibitions, romanticize running away, and take an ill-advised road trip with no money or destination. Anthemic Swedish rockers Shout Out Louds have been awfully quiet the last couple of years for a band called, well, Shout Out Louds. Since the release of their 2007 Merge LP Our Ill Wills (TMT Review), there's been nary a peep from them. Well that's stopping right now, since the group has a new record that they feel the need to just... shout out loud about. Here ends the “shout pun” portion of
