Originally released as a limited edition of only 5,000 copies, Chandra continued to develop an eclectic approach on this album, particularly on the 27-minute title track, which was based around one raga and employed several vocal styles, Indian and otherwise. On this cut in particular, Chandra explored some of the percussive, wordless vocal techniques that she would explore in greater depth on subsequent releases. The remaining four tracks are in the main more pop-conscious, occasionally adding electronic beats; the moody closing number "In Essence" is one of her better efforts along these lines.
