Los Angeles Joy Division-obsessed duo She Wants Revenge blend electronic beats with goth pop misery on their self-titled Geffen debut. DJs Justin Warfield and Adam "Adam 12" Bravin may have crafted the post-punk equivalent of XTC alter-egos Dukes of Stratosphear's psychedelic ock tribute Chips from the Chocolate Fireball, but there is suspicion as to whether or not it was intentional. Like fellow reanimators Interpol, the Bravery, or even the mysterious Lansing-Dreiden, She Wants Revenge love early Depeche Mode, Bauhaus, and pre-Land of Rape and Honey Ministry, but what makes their impeccably crafted, highly listenable/danceable collection of angst so dubious is its utter duplicity. There's nothing wrong with honoring your influences by copping a few moves and singing in a fake British accent like Green Day with the intentions of updating a genre that many potential listeners are too young to have experienced first-hand, but it's another thing to do it without even the slightest deviation.
My Top 20 Cds Of 20061. She Wants Revenge - She Wants Revenge: these guys help thwart my Joy Division/Interpol jones. Saw them play live online at Lollapolooza in Chicago & was mesmerized.2. Thom Yorke - The Eraser: One of the criminally underappreciated cds of last year. Proves the electronic blips & bleeps of Radiohead won't be going away too soon = ).3. TV On The Radio - Return To Cookie ...
Okay - so my friend Amber tells me that the guys in She Wants Revenge used to be hip hop artists. Now, if a hip hop artist decided to go for an 80's sound, shouldn't they sound like Kool Moe Dee, Salt n Peppa, De La Soul, or vintage LL Cool J?Mmmm.... De La Soul.... haven't heard THAT in a while....
So I just got this album. A She Wants Revenge album. It took all of one song to get me officially hooked. The album is a look into the minds of people like me. A serious search for a casual relationship. Just listening to this one made me calm down. Being a 17 year old girl, I am obviously stressed out by superficial issues, relationships, makeup, and my hair. Well... scratch the last one. The ...
I'm getting excited for this years Download Festival at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountainview near San Jose, CA, since The Cure will be headlining and I've not seen them live yet. She Wants Revenge is playing as well. I'm sure all the little gothies will be out in force but I don't care, I'm going anyway! I went last year and had a blast! I won a Sansa MP3 Player among other stuff I picked...

Here you go Anna...they are SO TOTALLY 80's....but it doesn't bother me because they don't claim to be anything bigger than that...do you hear me Killers? I am talking about you, you pretentious hacks!Wow...i feel so much better!
A few weeks ago I was in CA for Apple training. I had a fantastic time. While up in the room of one of the guys I made friends with, the iTunes shuffle pulled up She Wants Revenge. I remember getting their first album and I guess at the time I just wasn't into this kind of music, but when I heard them this time around, I really liked their sound. When I got back home I immediately got both ...
