I'm getting excited for this years Download Festival at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountainview near San Jose, CA, since The Cure will be headlining and I've not seen them live yet. She Wants Revenge is playing as well. I'm sure all the little gothies will be out in force but I don't care, I'm going anyway! I went last year and had a blast! She Wants Revenge will release their sophomore album October 9th. The follow-up to the indie new wave duo's successful sefl-titled breakthrough debut is called This Is forever. I apparently missed the debut album of the California based band. This is Forever is She Wants Revenge's second album, and was on a listening station at Hear Music. It was good enough for me to buy after listening to the first few tracks, with the obvious legacy of 80s Alternative Dance charts like Joy Division, Depeche Mode (in their goth/leather phase), and Sisters Of Mercy coming to mind. so this is one of those rare weekends where fun, relaxation, and good live music thrive together in perfect harmony. tonight i'm off to the troubadour in weho to see war stories then tomorrow it's the sunset junction street fair to see hot hot heat and she wants revenge. going to be such a good weekend. :)

I guess I am a bit of a musical enigma. I can't stand Interpol...their faux 80's angst bores me to tears. But for some reason I really like She Wants Revenge, who obviously lean VERY heavily on the same sort of influences. I am not even going to attempt to explain why I am this way, I will never know...but when an Interpol song comes on in my presence, its like nails on a chalkboard...but for some reason I dig She Wants Revenge and their new wave vibe. A few weeks ago I was in CA for Apple training. I had a fantastic time. While up in the room of one of the guys I made friends with, the iTunes shuffle pulled up She Wants Revenge. I remember getting their first album and I guess at the time I just wasn't into this kind of music, but when I heard them this time around, I really liked their sound. When I got back home I immediately got both of the albums and I've been enjoying them quite a bit since then. I'm not sayin... MORE

LA people, Sunset Junction is like looking into the face of God and He/She/It is smiling at you and says, you are my most wondrous creation. No joke. I've done it.

I'd posted this vid over on Chucky's mog in response to the artwork in a "Stolen Babies" vid which reminded me of Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas". A 3D version was released last Oct. w/ various artists doing their versions of the songs in the film. Marilyn Manson is one, Fall Out Boy does another & my fav She Wants Revenge does a version of "Kidnap The Sandy Claws" that is killer(pun intended). Okay - so my friend Amber tells me that the guys in She Wants Revenge used to be hip hop artists. Now, if a hip hop artist decided to go for an 80's sound, shouldn't they sound like Kool Moe Dee, Salt n Peppa, De La Soul, or vintage LL Cool J? Mmmm.... De La Soul.... haven't heard THAT in a while....

I just watched the video for She Wants Revenge on youtube and I can't believe this band got past me. Granted, I tend to live in my own world of 80's favorites and un-hummable Spacemen 3 tracks, but you'd think that someone would have turned me onto these guys before they got a nice glossy video out.
