Seasick Steve goes into battle at T in the Park
4 months ago

"This is a cigar box with a piece of wood on it and four strings," explained Seasick Steve of his custom-made string instrument that he's holding onto, a strange implement which somewhat resembles a guitar. "And it's a piece of s***..."Not that it stopped the crowd from adoring his lovably shambolic set of stomping blues-rock. Steve subsequently unveiled his three-string guitar, then his one-pi...

Seasick Steve's bio suggests he's had a hell of a life - from being a cowboy to migrant worker to hobo - there's not much he's not done. He's also appearing at EVERY SINGLE FESTIVAL in the UK this year, bringing his blues music to audiences everywhere. Occasionally playing a guitar with only 3 strings (and those are in the wrong place), and his Mississippi Disco Box drum (a wooden box that he ki...

The footage below isn't from the same show, but I'll post it soon as it arrives on You Tube. I just had to share. What Wi...

BLUES: A little more Seasick Steve

IMHO, Seasick Steve is the best "new" blues artist to come around in a long time. Generally, once you leave the Wolf/Muddy era, I lose interest. But a sample track on a UK Magazine CD alerted me, and I finally sprung for one of the two import CDs available. For some reason, Steve has seen NO U.S. releases."One True" is typical SS, and it's about loving your dog, which is always a topic that I r...

The British music mags have been giving the American yahoo Seasick Steve a lot of publicity, so I've been seeing his name for months, but paying little attention otherwise. Dressed most frequently in overalls, close to 60 in age, he looks like he wandered off the Hee Haw set thirty years ago and has been living in a cardboard box ever since. Then I got a couple of magazine sampler CDs with a c...
