A cover and a birthday boy

Artist:
Album: Mary (CD single)
Track:
Free music video of Take Me Out (6)
Blog post image preview Scissor Sisters' acoustic cover of Franz Ferdinand's Take Me Out was recorded live on Radio 1 and later appeared as a B-side to the single Mary. I first heard it when Blair sent it to me. Our good friend was born 28 (am I a good friend or what) years ago today, so happy sexy crazy birthday to ya, mate! From your first MOG-mail to me ("I like your Seen 'em Live widget, so I'm stealing it!") to where we are now (where are we BTW? where is the relationship going, mister? ahha... MORE

Muppets vs. Scissor Sisters?!?

Artist:
Album:

Free music video of I Can't Decide (9)
There's a killer mash-up in here somewhere... Speaking of which, in this vid the Scissor Sisters meet Rocky Horror... ...while in this one the Muppets meet Bullitt... ...and all the time I'm thinking, isn't the Scissor Sisters tune kinda just a porny gay version of the Muppets tune or what?

this was my 3rd time seeing scissor sisters. saw them once here in houston when they were just getting big, once at coachella last year, and then again last nite on the ta-dah tour. this was their last show in the US for awhile. they played a pretty even mix of tracks from the first album and the new one. they did not play some of my favorite tracks, such as "lovers in the backseat", "the other side", or "electrobix". they did however play a couple of tracks i wasn't... No One Takes Your Freedom

Artist:
Album: Mash-Up
Track: No One Takes Your Freedom
(50)
So if the weather where you are is anything like it's been here in the Northeast, then you're likely in need of some happyslappy wakeup tunes... either that or stay in bed with your rainboots on. Anyway, yet another mashup I don't know who to attribute to DJ-wise, but a killer combination of Scissor Sisters, The Beatles, George Michael and even a brief moment of Aretha. Hey, they had me at the beatles and George, but when it all comes together I am SOLD. Hope you kids enjoy!

A few hours ago, my new _Rolling Stone_ was delivered and inside was an interview with Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears. The highlight of the piece was Shears discussing a comment he made recently at the National Association of Recording Merchandisers convention, where, after seeing the Raconteurs' record priced at nearly twenty dollars at retailer FYE, he called out the merchant by name and declared that records should not cost more than fifteen dollars. Allegedly, t... MORE

Blog post image preview Scissor Sisters at Brixton Academy Oct. 31, 2006 [snip] A few songs into the set Ana disappeared for a moment, only to reappear as Morticia Adams...addressed the crowd with a eulogy for the late, great, CBGB's, then the band launched into a ferocious cover of Patti Smith's Rock n Roll Nigger. Got 'em!

Artist:
Album: Ta-Dah: Deluxe Edition [Limited]
Logged onto Global Cool at 8.30 to get ready for the 9am sale and found the tickets for the Scissor Sisters are available already! Good to see purchases limited to 2 only and at £23.50 each that's not bad for what will be a memorable gig at the Barra's. So that news has made my day and it'll be the first time I've seen a band two nights running - will be interesting to see if they vary the set list. Booking fee is £7.29 which is another topic for another time! Rollin... MORE

There seems to be a running fascination with cheese in my first blogs here, and a worrisome one at that, but it usually all turns out right in the end. I was one of those who saw the Scissor Sisters, listened to their music, preferred their first video for Laura than the second (it seemed more goldfrapp than britney back then) before all the mainstream hoopla hit them the summer of 2004. I'm not looking for a medal, it was inevitable really. The point is how do you react... MORE

TA-DAH! Scissor Sisters are back!

Artist:
Album: Ta-Dah: Deluxe Edition [Limited] [9/26]
Blog post image preview As stated in a previous post, I love Scissor Sisters! And with their new album, Ta-Dah, my love for them has grown. The album is indeed darker than the debut but darkness doesn't mean that the party has stopped. Just listen to the one-two-three punch of "Kiss You Off", "Ooh", and "Paul McCartney" (tracks 7, 8, and 9). I've been stuck on these three songs since getting the album. The only thing that disapoints me is the fact that there isn't a stop in Detroit on their ... MORE

The new Scissor Sisters album just isn't doing much for me. I loved their debut, but this one seems a bit flat. All the flamboyant excess of the original is still there, but the songwriting just seems substantially weaker to me. (Especially the front half of the album. The second half is stronger.) Ta... dah?
