AMG Review of The Sandie Shaw File

All Music GuideMany years before the label was taken over by Castle, Pye were fast to cash in with reissues of their '60s catalog in the late '70s. This LP was one of a series of albums dedicated to some of the biggest success stories on the label, including the Kinks and Status Quo, among others. There were many Sandie Shaw collections released during her heyday, but these fell short of examining the full span for her career with Pye. The Sandie Shaw File was the first to encompass all her hits, including three number ones -- "(There's) Always Something There to Remind Me," "Long Live Love," and "Puppet on a String" -- on one album, as well as a choice B-sides and album cuts. This album has been superseded with countless other hits packages, ranging in scope and quality. For those with vinyl decks, this collection is still well worth seeking out.
