I drove all night

(119)
Roy Orbison I had to escape , the city was sticky and cruelMaybe I should have called you firstBut I was dying to get to you I was dreaming while I droveThe long straight road aheadUh-huh, yeah Could taste your sweet kisses, your arms open wideThis fever for you was just burning me up inside I drove all night to get to youIs that all right?I drove all night, crept in your roomWoke you from your sleep to make love to youIs that all right?I drove all night What in ... Blog post image preview [Roy Orbison - Pretty Paper - 2:39]
O dear fellow Mogger and amiable Visitor, if only I could slip this as a note on silken paper in your pocket for you to take along your day.
Do you remember the delicate touch of paper under your palm as you scribble a billet? In these digitised times of ours, who still uses paper for writing? Our fingers are accustomed to the plastic touch of keyboards and have long forgotten the organic feel of vegetable fibre...
I wish I could make yo... MORE

Blog post image preview At number 20 Roy Orbison - Pretty Paper This slow Christmas tune was written and also sung by Willie Nelson. A beggar sits lonely and unnoticed while crowds of people shop for gifts to wrap in beautiful paper, blue ribbons, pretzels and other decorations.

Blog post image preview I have noticed for years how many people credit Bob Dylan for the harmonica playing in Handle with Care. I noticed many years ago that it was in fact Roy Orbison who played it.I have uploaded a picture of proof to back up my beliefs. If you watch the video for Handle with Care you will notice a pair of arms wearing black jacket sleeves with red shirt sleeves showing out the end just as the hands go up to play the harmonica. How anyone could think that was Bob beats me as w... MORE

Cool Voice Needed for the Hottest Day of the Year

Artist:
Album:
Track:
(140)
Blog post image preview When your opening act is the Beatles, you've gotta be good. Elvis called him the greatest singer in the world, and Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees referred to him as the "Voice of God." It's perhaps because his label didn't market him as cleverly or because his looks weren't astronomical, his talent was underrated. But when the summer in Philadelphia starts getting unbearably stickily hot like it is today, I don't think there's anything more refreshing than the sound of Roy ... MORE

Orbison / Lynne / Traveling Wilburys masterpiece

Free music video of A Love So Beautiful (12)
Blog post image preview In honor of the Traveling Wilburys box set coming out in a week or two (mine's already on order), I wanted to dig out this gem for those who might not have heard it. Jeff Lynne was heavily involved in one of Roy Orbison's last albums, Mystery Girl. On that LP is one standout track, written by Lynne, which is absolutely gorgeous - one of the most beautiful melodies he's ever written (and that is saying a LOT), Roy's soaring operatic vocal...it really gets to me, and... Lonely and Blue?

Blog post image preview http://royorbison.musiccitynetworks.com/ Check out the Roy Orbison website above, and then read the Daily OM Music Review below. Good stuff! March 27, 2007Lonely and BlueRoy Orbison 1960At a time when other young singers would record follow-up albums to their hit singles by simply adding the hits to a collection of new recordings by the singer from the label's library, Roy Orbison was heading in different directions. Instead, he used the new technology-two-track stere... MORE

I'm going to back to "Working For The Man"

(72)
So, today I'm going back to work - a half day to ease my way back in. I can't really complain though, because it's what I love doing (behavior analysis), it's for a good company, and I get to help people who have suffered severe head injuries and their families. Plus, there's the paycheck. This song doesn't apply too well because at this job I'm kind of "the Man" that people will be working for, but it's still a sweet song...and I still have to go back to work.

The MOG-O-SPHERE is weird today. So to keep myself and others who like the following Rock 'n' Roll heavyweights happy I'm posting the video of Roy Orbison, Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, T. Bone Burnett & J.D. Souther - Oh Pretty Woman (live, 1987). Again. I love this. What is to happen about the vetoing for the MOG 501?
