Reality Killed the Video Star: Robbie WilliamsHow are we to read the rune of Robbie Williams’s comeback album? Produced by synth-pop godfather Trevor Horn, the title of Williams’s seventh album nods towards Horn’s own greatest hit of 1979, Buggles’ “Video Killed the Radio Star”. Depending on how you interpret “reality” – and we’re guessing Williams [...]
Can't say I'm a fan, his music is not my cup of coffee, which I prefer dark. He does have my liking for having "addiction" written all over his forehead. However, I fancy 2 songs of his. The first one is Love Supreme that I adore, which happens to have a very good vid as well:The other song of his I like is Rock DJ. Here's its uncut version, in which he demonstrates creativity in pleasing (carn...
EMI is having some problems with its artists and their managers. Earlier this week we reported on the label firing their artist-friendly CEO Tony Wadsworth and rumors that Coldplay, like Radiohead and Paul McCartney before them, would leave the label. Now it seems that another major seller, Robbie Williams, is putting his foot down against the financial restructuring of the label, which was pur...
I never knew this existed, not even sure what I think about Mr. Williams. He likes to co-opt every thing he can get his hands on to make his own.A cover of Stephen TinTin Duffy's "Kiss Me"(Sorry Misstee I can't find "Unkiss That Kiss", at least not yet!)
Directed by Vaughan Arnell, the man behind the camera for Robbie Williams videos including ‘Angels’, ‘Feel’, ‘Let Me Entertain You’, ‘Millennium’, ‘Radio’, ‘Rock DJ’, ‘Somethin’ Stupid’ and ‘Supreme’, ‘Bodies’ is the first single from the new album Reality Killed The Video Star. There was me and my monkeyAnd with his dungarees and roller blades smoking filter tipsReclining in the passenger seat of my super-charged jet black ChevroletHe had the soft-top down (he liked the wind in his face)He said 'Son, you ever been to Vegas?' I said 'no'He said 'that's where we're gonna go - you need a change of pace'And we hit the strip with all the wedding chapels and the neon signsH...
To add to the conversation that davesonic started in his post today about EMI, Guy Hands and the label's musicians, here is another perspective of the music industry - one that many people don't like to discuss. Guy Hands, the "plantation owner" at the head of Terra Firma (the corp that recently purchased EMI), revealed some disturbing stats about the label's album releases to The Guardian. H...
Bodies is the new single from Robbie 'Robster' Williams. It's sorta catchy in annoying way and was produced by Trevor 'Buggles' Horn. It's recieved a flaberghastingly shit remix from Fred Falke and anybody who says it's great is a liar who blindly accepts Falke's woeful remix output of late. Notice how it's not posted.Robbie 'Robster' WilliamsによるニューシングルBodiesはイライラす
Update: Listen to the entire single here on Youtube...Look at this! Here is the album cover for Robbie Williams's new long player, "Reality Killed The Video Star". Wow. I enjoy myself a nice healthy dose of Robbie Williams from time to time, and who wouldn't with the upcoming disco-strings-dancefloor-Trevor Horn produced single Bodies. A new album will be out November 9, titled Reality Killed The Video Star. An instrumental clip of the track is available on Robbie's blog, along with a nifty 'behind the scenes' clip shot during the filming of Bodies.
Lead single from Robbie Williams upcoming release, 'Reality Killed The Video Star'. Good song that seems to have fairly obvious inflections of old Motown soul pop!I really like the title of Williams' album; Obviously a play on The Buggles 1979 release 'Video Killed The Radio Star', I think Williams is aptly describing the current change in media formats much in the same way The Buggles describ...
Off to work I go. Where it'll be bad musak for nine hours and crazy tweakers. Fortuantely I've found my Zune and the speakers that go with it, so maybe it wont be to bad. I updated my playlist and currently I've got everything from Moby to Rancid locked and loaded.
