When you're RJD2, every day is like Christmas. And by every day, I mean once a week between now and January 19. The formerly Def Jux-signed beatsmith will be giving away a free item each Monday until the release of his fourth LP, The Colossus, on RJ's Electrical Connections. First item up for grabs was (you missed it!) a vinyl test-pressing of his 2003 EP The Horror, of which only five were eve...
Turntablist/producer/musician RJD2 has a brand new label of his own, RJ’s Electrical Connections, and he has an absolute ton of releases coming our way in the next few months. Take a deep breath because there is a lot to take in:His first three releases, Dead Ringer, The Horror EP, and Since We Last Spoke, will [...]
RJD2 came out of hiding today with a pretty massive update on his doings, the highlight of which is the creation of his own label, RJ’s Electrical Connections. In the process, RJ says he’s acquired his first three releases – Deadringer, Since We Last Spoke, The Horror EP – for the label and just this week [...]
The second annual Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival is back with a VENGEANCE this summer! Last year we had a blast getting down to Purple Crush, Lismore, Treasure Fingers, The Glass, etc. This year will be no different! The 2 headliners for the fest, which will be held at The Amercian Can Factory on August 8, have just been announced, and with heavy hitters Juan MacLean and RJD2 powering the li...
I had the privilege of going to this year's Download Festival, which turned out to be quite a let down despite the fantastic ending that made it worth the wait. I've never been into bands like Gang of Four or Jesus and Mary Chain, but thankfully once I had sat through all of these headliners practically the whole crowd left the Shoreline establishing me with a prime standing position for RJD2....
Wow. So, RJD2 keeps getting better. With this album, The Third Hand, he really drifted away from his normal sample driven music. Aside from that, HE SUNG TOO! Damn I love his voice. Some people didn't, but I definitely thought it was quite nice (Kind of Kenna-esque). Moving right along now. . . I first saw this album was coming out while I was grounded and reading REMIX. They went into his stud...
So. I just downloaded a bunch of RJD2 seeing that I needed more of him in my library and he is one of my favorite DJ's. I came across an album called "The Silver Album" and I downloaded it without really thinking about the title. So, I decided to listen to it after listening to "Since the last time we spoke" and I hear the vocal sample that was used in the intro to the Black Album. I didnt reco...

I haven't really been that into what I've heard of the new RJD2 album but this video is crazy good. I'm sure someone has posted this already but I wanted to give it more props. This guys moves are sick.
A welcome return to roots, as college’s favorite turntablist launches his own label and abandons his attempts to become a dreaded songwriter. No singing here – RJD2 makes his presence felt subtly, as it should be. Tin Foil Hat isn’t revolutionary; it’s the RJD2 you know and love, with rounder edges.Reminds us of: DJ Shadow | Massive Attack | finding the perfectly worn t-shirt at a thrift s
RJD2 recently released a collection of material spanning his the height of his career, which includes an EP of previously unreleased stuff entitled Tin Foil Hat. While nothing groundbreaking, I find myself really enjoying the EP. Rather than some of the bigger beats of his recent work, Tin Foil Hat finds RJD2 going back to his funkier roots with a lot of interesting instrumentation. The long an...
