You may know Alan Sparhawk as the main-man behind long-lived American collective Low but what you may not know is that he's also the frontman of Retribution Gospel Choir, a side-project you should probably grow accustomed too. Indefinably psychedelic, the band is a distinct shift in tone for the man and apparently, something that the Sub Pop label would quite like a chunk of.

Retribution Gospel Choir is the latest musical endeavour from Low front-man Alan Sparhawk, he's joined by Eric Pollard on the drums and fellow Low member Steve Garrington. Retribution Gospel Choir is Alan Sparhawk's new project, but it is not at all like Low. It's much fuzzier, dirtier (sonically, I mean -- as far as I know he's still exceptionally moral and Christian for a rock guy)and more distorted...and, to be honest, I like it better. What do you think? Here's a cut off the self-titled album which will be coming out on Caldo Verde in early April.
