Thank you all for your kind concern and condolences regarding the loss of our dear Johnny. We have Tess here with us now. The days go by. Keep her in your prayers.
i would make my life better. but no one is stopping me from doing so and so why do i say if? Maybe it's my pathethic way out not to do anything to change? i've been listening to a lot of Ray LaMontagne these days just because i feel his songs are in sync with what is going on in my life and my head space. It's like having someone understand you really well but not lecturing you to be proactive and change what you don't like. Sometimes I just like to wallow and i think ... MORE
This week's Tuesday Tunes is the sophomore effort of contemporary singer/songwriter Ray LaMontagne.
Visit Write State of Mind for a mini-review and sound selections (plus downloads) from his album, Till the Sun Turns Black.
I don't consider myself stuck in the pop world, however, I don't consider myself all-knowing of the indie musicians out there either. Here's a nice little bridge to that gap. I'll post some more of his songs later. Please enjoy.

I first discovered RL a little over 2 years ago, just after the release of his debut album, Trouble. Ironically enough, I had trouble finding the album at first, but once I found it, I couldn't stop playing it (or singing along to it-alone in my car, of course)! His voice, so soothing; his lyrics, haunting...enough to wake the dead and troubled souls; his sound, swaying. Although a majority of the songs on the album are sullen, the 'fantastic four' pulled him through. ... MORE
I am sure most of you are familiar with the story of Ray Lamontagne. He is definitely on my own personal Mt Rushmore of people who have inspired me. He was working in Maine at a shoe factory(no joke), and during one of his shifts the Stephen Stills song 'Tree Top Flyer' came on the radio, and Ray's life was changed forever. It was the epiphany of all epiphanies...he decided on the spot to become a singer/songwriter. I'd say it worked out pretty well for him...he has s... MORE
Let me tell you a story of how someone else's lack of sanity almost affected my own....... I go to the gym on a pretty regular basis, and I am fortunate enough to have one both in my office and close to my apartment, so my choice of which one to go to depends on my mood and the time of day. If I want to go early in the morning, which is usually the case, I go to the one located in my building. However, if I am not in the mood to wake up early or if it is the weekend, I... MORE
