When I was five and would pull the brat card, my mom would always say things like "You don't know how lucky you have it." being completely unhappy with most progressions (if one could call it that) in music as of late, i've simply regressed and found comfort in the old-churning-out-the-new. not simply for a familiar sound, but because i feel a piece of my personal taste has been preserved there, and to a near exquisite degree.
In Rainbows.
The proportions are not entirely 50-50, however.
It's a liberal mixture.
A sweet, devastatingly dark, depressive mixture.
It's been almost 24 hours now, so, it's probably safe to assume everyone has already heard it... but in case you haven't, don't worry - there are no surprises to spoil. If they didn't have the whole "pay what you want" gimmick, they could have easily sold the idea as "A tribute to Radiohead, by Radiohead"... with songs titles like "National Anthem 2007 Mix", instead of "Bodysnatchers".
To me it just seems like they're revisiting all their styles from Pablo Honey through Kid... MORE
